♼ Become a Community Pick-up Location

Want to help us raise funds for mycology education and build a mycelial network in your community? Have space, enthusiasm and time? Become a mushroom block host! There are 2,000+ blocks per week that could go into the waste stream and this is a grassroots effort to teach people how to compost, grow mushrooms, and build fungal-rich soil. We want to have locations in every neighborhood and you can help repurpose organic matter.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Offer a shady, accessible place in your yard or business for people to come by anytime to pick-up blocks. Check with your HOA. Must be within 30 miles of Austin or San Antonio metro areas.

  • Be a neighborhood where we don’t already have pick-up locations. If you are in a remote area your must work with your community to volunteer to do pick-up. See map here.

  • Place a QR code sign in your yard for easy donations and to become a member and also learn how to use the blocks.

  • Be a community leader, willing to generate excitement on social media and be a Facebook Group admin and provide updates on block availability. See example.

  • Coordinate with our volunteer network for block delivery. Our goal is to always have them available.
