AUSTIN: UV Night Walk & Pre Party for Texas Mushroom Conference

We are myceliating with Austin Beerworks and MyceliuMatters for an evening of fungal fun to benefit mycology education. Ticket giveaways to the Texas Mushroom Conference, UV night walk, live art, workshops and more! Sign up for activities and register below.
Come explore the diverse, nocturnal ecosystem of new 64 acre property with UV flashlights and cameras to look for mushrooms, night pollinators, birds, glowing plants, lichens and more. Learn how fungi is entangled in the forest helping plants gain water and nutrients, creating the pigments that give flowers their beautiful colors, to helping plants communicate with pollinators. Guests will learn how to look for, photograph and be community scientists in adding fluorescing organisms to the iNaturalist project.
Bring your friends! New members will get a beer courtesy of ABW. Family and pet friendly, come early for disc golf, happy hour, food and more. Walk will start at sunset / mushroom magic hour and then we can will look for glowing organisms until 10ish. Get creative with glowing outfits, face paint and don’t forget your camera and tripod.
We will also have mushroom blocks for everyone to take home.
Bring your own 365nm UV flashlight or purchase one from us and pick-up at the event.

All Night: Live Art Showcase
Watch artists who are passionate about all things fungi, use natural, upcycled, reused, and recycled materials to produce their art that will be displayed at the conference and raffled to raise money for mycology education. Call for Artists

Shop for unique mushroom-based products, from supplements and grow kits to eco-friendly materials and handmade goods, offered by local and national vendors. Become a Vendor
5 PM: Mushroom Collection for DNA Research
Join us for a guided mushroom walk to support fungal DNA research, where participants will learn to document specimens using iNaturalist and contribute to North America's mycological knowledge. The specimens collected will be sequenced and featured at a DNA workshop at the conference.
6 PM: Lo-tek Mushroom Cultivation Workshop
Bring your own container and learn how to grow culinary mushrooms from substrate that we rescue from waste stream. See example containers here.
8 PM: UV Night Walk
Explore the nocturnal ecosystem of the disc golf course (ABW is on 64 acres along Walnut Creek) with UV flashlights and cameras to look for mushrooms, night pollinators, birds, glowing plants, lichens and more. Get creative with glowing outfits and face paint. Bring a regular flashlight/headlamp and a 365 nm UV light or purchase one from us and pick-up at the event.
