“Wild edible plants abound in Austin's city parks, vacant lots, gardens, and lawns. Many of the "weeds" and native plants in Austin are not only edible, but nutritious! Come along with Local Leaf's Eric Knight to learn about the edible plants growing right under your nose and help build the local foraging community.

Eric has taught numerous plant walks and edible and medicinal plant classes for Earth Native Wilderness School, the Austin Nature & Science Center, and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and is excited to share his ethnobotanical knowledge.

And we’re super excited to collaborate with the Central Texas Mycological Society’s Sam McChesney who will share his mushroom ID knowledge during the walk! Sam has tons of experience growing edible mushrooms and identifying wild fungi. Check out the Mycological Society’s website here!”
