AUSTIN: Mushroom Ecology Walk

  • Elizabeth Ney Museum (map)

WHEN: Saturday, MAY 4 2024, 10am -12pm

WHERE: Elizabeth Ney Museum

COST: FREE With Registration

Search under your feet for the hidden partnership of mycelium and our prairie plants in the Elisabet Ney Museum’s landscape. Join the Central Texas Mycological Society’s Chris Garza for a short ecology and herb tour. During the tour you will learn how fungi is entangled in all aspects of our lives from soil and plants, to our own biomes. For example, did you know the flavor of mint comes from a type of fungi that protects it from insects and other parasitic fungi!? This event is also great for people that want to sharpen their plant and mushroom ID skills and learn about the medicinal benefits of plants and fungi.

Recycled mushroom blocks for everyone that attends! We will also have a workday in our landscape led by Sam Hodge.
