Leander: Grow Gourmet Mushrooms in Buckets & Containers

  • Leander Public Library (map)

Join member and educator Chuck Stricker at the Leander Public Library for a free course on the cultivation of gourmet mushrooms in a buckets and containers. Participants will make their own mushroom bucket* to take home.

*BRING YOUR OWN BUCKET

Examples of containers (be sure to clean): 5 gallon bucket or planter pot laundry, basket, milk crate, or crate for vegetables, wire mesh container like a bird house, strawberry pot. Any container with holes in it will work. Do not buy anything new, there are many ways to recycle and use these materials. If your container doesn’t have holes in the side, use a step drill bit with a 1“ bit to drill holes in a diamond pattern 4” apart on the sides of the bucket. DO NOT drill holes on the bottom. If there are already holes on the bottom, cover them with cardboard.

Make sure your bucket is clean!

Free with registration through City of Leander Website. Seats are limited.
