ABOUT THE TALK

Oak wilt, one of the most destructive tree diseases in the United States, is killing oak trees in central Texas at epidemic proportions. Oak wilt is an infectious disease caused by the fungus Bretziella fagacearum, which invades and disables the water-conducting system in oaks. Here we discuss the epidemiology and management of oak wilt in Texas.

ABOUT THE GUEST SPEAKER

Dr. Demian Gomez (@demianfgomez) is the Regional Forest Health Coordinator for the Texas A&M Forest Service. His work focuses on early detection, management, and regional initiatives to address forest pests. He coordinates forest health projects across Central and West Texas with government, academic, and private partners.
