About The Texas Star Mushroom
In order to create a larger audience in fungal appreciation, we joined the grassroots movement to pass a bill in the Texas Legislature in 2021, making an official state Mushroom, the Texas Star (Chorioactis geaster). We are one of three states that have an official mushroom and we are working with Texas Parks and Wildlife to get the mushroom on a license plate along with other state flora and fauna. The mushroom grows only on the stumps of decomposing Cedar Elm stumps and roots, and is only found here in central Texas and certain regions of Japan. Truly a Texas Star. In the early presenting phase of this mushroom it shows itself as an upright cigar, but at fruiting stage opens itself into a star.
Why the Texas Stars Hockey and Texas Star Mushroom?
We hope to bridge the growing communities of mushroom and hockey fans, through this unique state mushroom carrying the same title of your hockey organization. We hope to be chosen for Chuck-A-Puck program through the Texas Star Hockey Foundation to raise money to raise awareness of our state mushroom, create some noise, get content to make a reel and get into the mind's eye and myceliate with hockey folks.
Also, mycelium grows on ice. Check out these photos Eric from Circle Acres took.
