Mycorrhizal Networks, Carbon Capture & Climate Change

GUEST SPEAKER: Dr. Colin Averill from SPUN

DATE: February 17, 2022 at 7 p.m. CST

LOCATION: Online via Zoom or YouTube

By now you have heard about the hidden underground web or mycorrhizal networks that are underneath our feet. Join us online as we welcome Dr. Colin Averill, from SPUN , a new non-profit, science-based initiative founded to map fungal networks in order to remove carbon from the atmosphere. Colin is a lead scientist in the Crowther Lab at ETH Zürich where his research team studies the forest fungal microbiome. He will be talking about the latest research in fungal biodiversity, forest carbon capture and climate change. The conversation of underground fungal networks has been largely absent from conservation and climate agendas. Come learn how you as a citizen scientist can protect the soil and get involved in this global mapping project.
